9. The plants preferring the clearings
Between
the bird grove and the badgers’ burrow
a small plot is planted with species that prefer
places where the wood has been cleared or burnt.
They see
to it that the soil does not stay bare for long.
Among them foxglove, and rosebay - in American
English: fireweed!
