4. Field crosses, sunken lanes, wild flowers ….
Typical South-Limburg!
The many wayside crosses and chapels are typical
for the country side of South-Limburg.
Some of them originate from the time
Christianity came to
this region, possibly to replace older pagan shrines at crossroads.

The
typical sunken lanes with their rich vegetation
were created by water after heavy rain or melting
snow plus the hoofs and wheels of local farmers’ carts.
Only here the roads were not too steep.
